City Transfers & Taxi services in France
Paris, capital city of France, is one of the most visited cities in the world for its Eiffel Tower and other iconoclastic monuments. The other cities of France often prove to also be a sheer delight to the visitor, each having their own and unique charm:
Marseille for its “vieux port" (old port), Avignon for its famous bridge and its festivals and while Lyon reigns as the gastronomic capital, Bordeaux is the reputed wine city by excellence of France. St-Tropez is worldly known as the jet-set playground, and Lille is an historic town not only famous for being the birthplace of the General De Gaulle but also for its beautiful buildings and its September gigantic outdoor fair and flea market.
Aix en Provence, Cannes, Nice are beautiful coastal cities on the southern coast of France, ideal point of departures for Monaco or the cities of southern Italy. Montpellier, Perpignan, Lourdes, Narbonne and Bayonne are situated on the south-western coast, making it perfect to link with Andorra, Barcelona and other Spanish cities using taxi services.
On our journey we ought not to forget the dramatically beautiful cliffs of Étretat in Normandy and the Pink Granite Coast of Brittany but also the romantic and fairytale atmosphere of Annecy and Colmar, sometimes known as "Little Venice", for their terraces along flower-lined canals.
France has the best variety of ski resorts of any country in the world with the French Alps offering more options for skiers and snowboarders than any skiing destination in the world. Most of them are for intermediates, so there is no need to be an advanced skiier to have fun on the slopes.
Courchevel, La Plagne, Val d'Isère, Chamonix, Tignes, Méribel, Avoriaz, Alpe d'Huez are among our favourites. The French Alps also host a number of resorts ideal for families, namely Serre Chevalier, St Martin-de-Belleville and of course Les Gets. All are reachable by airport and ski transfers easily. It is advised to book very well in advance, your hotel, ski transfer and ski materials.
Most ski resorts have neighbouring airports, making it very convenient to reach into the Northern Alps from Geneva, Lyon, Grenoble and Chambéry. You can also transfer from Turin, Milan or Bern Airport. Getting to your favourite ski station can also be done from neighbouring train stations.
Transport & Airport Transfers in France
Renting a car at the airport might be tempting but driving a car in a foreign country can turn into a stressful experience, not to mention the rental cost, deposit, taxes and surcharges. Pre-booking your transfer is a more than recommended option.
It's not always easy to hail a taxi on the street in France and by the way, taxis don't stop when hailed, especially in big cities like Paris, Lyon or Marseille. This is because taxi drivers are not allowed to stop if they are 50m or less from a Taxi Stand.
Calling a taxi is an option but the fare can increase, as the driver is allowed to turn on the meter when leaving to meet you, which means the meter starts from wherever the taxi is coming from, so expect some extra Euros on the meter when the taxi arrives.
Hailing a taxi at a French Airport is quite a battling adventure, queuing up is mandatory and when you get one after some 30 minutes in line, there is always the risk of ending up with a high rated fare due to detours or heavy traffic, especially if you are going into busy cities or distant towns and regions. Added to that is the communication problem if you do not speak the local language or the taximan is not multi-lingual.
If you do happen to hop in a taxi, our advice is to stick to licensed ones. If you get a single person fare, do not hesitate to say no if the taxi wants to pick people up on the way or if the taxi driver wants 'extra money for traffic', even if you agreed on a price before the trip.
Pre-booking private airport transfers in France is a less costly, less stressful and a relieving alternative which is most definitely recommended for your holiday transfers, hotel transfers, ski transfers and sight-seeing excursions in France.
